Didier Chaudet est spécialiste de la Grande Asie Centrale (Asie Centrale post-soviétique, Afghanistan, Pakistan). Il enseigne sur les questions de sécurité dans cette zone à Sciences Po Paris depuis 2007. Il a été chercheur à l’IFRI, au Centre Russie/Nei (2007), et Fox Fellow à l’université de Yale (2006/2007). Il a vécu en Asie Centrale, notamment au Kazakhstan, où il a enseigné les relations internationales à l’université Al Farabi, à Almaty (2005-2006). Il a par ailleurs fait plusieurs longs séjours au Moyen-Orient (notamment l’Egypte, où il a vécu) et aux Etats-Unis. Ses intérêts de recherche incluent la politique étrangère des grandes puissances en Grande Asie Centrale, au Moyen-Orient, et dans le Maghreb, ainsi qu’aux questions de sécurité dans ces zones.

Dans le cadre de ses spécialités, il est intervenu dans de nombreuses conférences internationales et dans les médias français (Le Figaro, le Point, le JDD, Public Sénat, France 24, etc.).

Il est, entre autres, l’auteur de l’ouvrage Les néoconservateurs face à l’Islam, collection UniversCités, en 2005, et co-auteur, avec Florent Parmentier et Benoit Pélopidas, de L'empire au miroir. Stratégie de puissance aux Etats-Unis et en Russie, chez Droz, en 2007 (traduction roumaine chez Cartier 2008), publication chez Ashgate, When Empire Meets Nationalism. Power Politics in the US and Russia, 2009.

Didier Chaudet is an expert of Greater Central Asia (Post-Soviet Central Asia, Afghanistan, Pakistan). He has been a Lecturer on Security Issues in Greater Central Asia at Sciences Po, Paris, since 2007. Previously, he was Research Fellow at IFRI or French Institute of International Relations (2007) and a Fox Fellow at Yale University (2006/2007). He lived in Central Asia, in particular in Kazakhstan, where he taught IR at Al Farabi University (2005-2006), and in the Middle East, in Egypt in particular. His research interests include the foreign policies of the Great Powers in Greater Central Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa, as well as the security issues related to those areas.

In his areas of specialties, he participated in international conferences and has been consulted by French media (newspapers, radio, television).

Among other things, he is the author of the book the American Neoconservative Movement toward Islam: Analysis of a post-9/11 answer to jihadism, Paris, UniversCités, 2005 (in French) and one of the authors (with Florent Parmentier and Benoît Pélopidas) of When Empire meets nationalism. Power politics in the US and Russia, Aldershot, Ashgate, 2009 (French and Romanian versions have been published previously).
